John Bishop’s Britain 2010

As we get closer to Christmas the annual surge of stand up DVD’s and everybody’s autobiographies begins.  You don’t need us to run through them all, but for the next couple of weeks we’d like to look at the Comedians and comedies that are making it today and those that are still making it after all these years.

Let’s start with the man who started his career in stand up playing to audiences of 17 people – Mr John Bishop.

New boy on the block John Bishop has been around for a few years with guest appearances here and there and Edinburgh Festival shows, but this year he became far better known thanks to his new BBC TV Show John Bishop’s Britain which ran for 6 episodes earlier this year on BBC1.

John Bishop’s Britain is a mix of stand-up, sketches and real life stories from members of the public.  Each week has a different topic and guest stars.

Let’s hope that John returns to Saturday nights again in 2011.  His debut live DVD “Elvis Has Left The Building” is available now and through the magic of BBC i player you can listen again as he talks to Richard Allinson on BBC Radio2, 16 November, or download the Steve Wright in the afternoon podcast.
