David Croft was responsible for creating some of the all time classic British comedies, alongside writing partner Jimmy Perry, his military sitcoms It Ain’t Half Hot Mum and Dad’s Army, written with Jimmy Perry, were hits in the 1970s.
He is also credited with Are You Being Served and its 1990s spin-off Grace and Favour. Other favourites included Hi De Hi. His last work was for the BBC in 1993 with Oh Doctor Beeching, after which he retired.
In tribute to David Croft all next weeks posts will feature the all time great comedies he created alongside a profile of the man himself.
As many people have expressed today, without the likes of people like David Croft the world would be a lot less funnier.
