We covered The Comedians 40th Anniversary in the summer of this year (once again our thanks to Johnnie Hamp for his help with the post).
In the summer of 2011 some of the surviving original members of The Comedians TV show and their legendary producer Johnnie Hamp, gathered together in Blackpool to celebrate their 40th Anniversary. The show was hosted by Johnnie Hamp and as well as live performances there was special footage of Jim Bowen and Ken Goodwin and those that are no longer with us: Bernard Manning, George Roper and Charlie Williams.
Taking to the stage at The Grand Theatre the live show was recorded for DVD, all the gags, a documentary telling the story of The Comedians, as well as backstage footage and interviews with the comedians themselves and the man who started it all off 40 years ago – Johnnie Hamp. Over 2 hours of side splitting comedy and insight into the world of these true heavy weights of comedy who are still making us laugh four decades after first appearing on our TV screens.
