Actor Geoffrey Hughes Dies
It was announced in the late hours of Saturday night that actor, Geoffrey Hughes, has died after loosing his two year battle with prostate cancer, he was 68.
Having had a wide and varied career that has included appearances in many classic TV comedies over the years including: Dad’s Army, The Likely Lads, Curry and Chips, No Honestly, The Upper Hand and Please Sir. However he is perhaps best known for playing Eddie Yates in Coronation Street, more recently he played Vernon Scripps in Heartbeat, Twiggy in The Royle Family and perhaps his most popular role Onslow in Keeping Up Appearances.
Doctor Who’s Timelord Sidekick dies
Glamorous actress Mary Tamm, best known for her role as the first Romana in Doctor Who, has died aged 62, after loosing her battle with cancer. Although best remembered for her work on Doctor Who she had a varied stage and screen career and also appeared in another cult series Channel 4′s Brookside.
Birds Of A Feather To Return To The Nest
Popular eighties sitcom Birds Of A Feather, currently playing to sell out crowds as a stage show is to return to TV. Chatting to John Holmes on Saturday July 28th on BBC Radio 2, Linda Robson confirmed that the cast would be reuniting for eight new episodes of the hugely popular eighties sitcom. No dates confirmed yet but Linda Robson thought that it would probably go out towards the end of the year.
