The Wheeltappers And Shunters Social Club – 1974 – 1977
From the same stable as The Comedians this Saturday Night variety show is in our archive because of some of the great comic names it introduced us to ie: Grumblweeeds, Cannon and Ball. The show was also popular with many of the stand ups from The Comedians ie: George Roper, Jim Bowen, Frank Carson.
Produced by Johnnie Hamp at Granada Television in Manchester the show ran for 6 series and 3 specials.
It’s great to look back and see not just some of today’s well known names but some of the legends that appeared over the years, Roy Orbison even made an appearance.
Join Club Chairman Colin Compton and M.C. Bernard Manning as they introduce some of the best talent doing the rounds and some top turns, in fictional Working Man’s Club “The Wheeltappers and Shunters Social Club”
