Hancock’s Half Hour, The Cruise, 1959

From the fifth series of this classic series comes a little gem.  First broadcast in 1959 it shows Hancock at his best and features an all star line up in the cast including Hattie Jacques who had previously been part of the regular cast on the radio series of the same name.

I hadn’t seen this for sometime, you tend to pick the obvious ones to watch from the DVD collection, but it’s probably just as funny now as when it was first broadcast.

Summary

“You guaranteed me we were on a good thing!”

Sid has persuaded Hancock to go on a cruise with the promise of glamorous locations and girls everywhere.  However Hancock feels the cruise is not living up to his expectations.

“You said as soon as they throw the ropes over the side at Tilbury they’d be chasing me around the sun deck. It’s the only reason I came!” he tells Sid.

It’s not long before through multiple misunderstandings Hancock becomes convinced the Captain is incompetant and the ship is sinking.
