Man About The House

Man About The House, 1973

This classic sitcom will celebrate it’s 50th birthday later this year, but it’s as fresh and funny as it was when first broadcast.

Running for thirty nine episodes across six series, Man About The House was the sitcom about two female and one male student flat sharing.

At the time of it’s broadcast the subject matter was considered very daring, a male sharing a flat with two females was not the done thing.  The series was a huge success launching the careers of those that starred in it and creating two spin off series in the form of Robin’s Nest and George and Mildred.

Summary

When two young flatmates Chrissy and Jo awake the morning after a farewell party they’ve thrown for their departed flatmate, they find a stranger in their bath.

The Stranger is Robin Tripp, a student chef.  As neither of the girls can cook they persuade Robin to stay on ‘platonic’ basis.  ~They tell the landlord Mr Roper that Robin is gay to convince him to allow Robin to stay.

The show focuses on the relationships between the two girls, their male flatmate and their Landlord Mr Roper and his wife Mildred.
