Newzoids, 2015
After the end of Spitting Image there was a gap left for biting political satire. Five years after came 2DTV. Lasting five series that ended in 2004. Next was Headcases, in 2008 that lasted just one series. What’s the problem? Spitting Image ran for twelve years.
Just when viewers thought that broadcasters had given up came Newzoids. We were promissed biting satire as seen on Spitting Image and the series even went out in time to spoof the 2015 general election.
Newzoids received mixed reviews from critics and bowed out after just two series, of six episodes each.
Summary
The series uses a mix of the latest CGI techniques alongside some very odd looking puppets, to parody well known public figures from: politicians and sports personalities, to royalty and entertainment.
