Frank Spencer To Return For Sport Relief

The BBC have announced that accident prone Frank Spencer who last appeared on our screens Christmas 1978, is to return for one-off sketch starring Tour de France winner as part of Sport Relief event.  Last time round we saw the return of Only Fools And Horses for a one off sketch with David Beckham.

Michael Crawford, 74, will reunite with his long-suffering on-screen wife, Betty, played by Michele Dotrice, in a one-off sketch for Sport Relief Night on March 18.

Michael Crawford said: ‘I am thrilled and delighted to have been asked to bring Frank back for Sport Relief.’  His co-star, Michele Dotrice, 67, added that it would be an ‘absolute joy to be reunited again with Frank’ and that it was fitting ‘for it is such a wonderful cause’

The special will see Frank land himself in his usual scrapes, culminating in a run-in with cyclist Sir Bradley Wiggins at the cycling centre in the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park in London.

It was rumoured last year that Some Mothers Do ‘Ave ‘Em could return as part of the BBC’s landmark 60 years of comedy season later this year marking 60 years since the first televised Hancock’s Half Hour.  Fans are hoping that it will persuade the BBC to make a full series.
