Doctor Who – The Myth Makers, 1965

Three of three. The Myth Makers was the third story of the third season, when William Hartnell was The Doctor.

Set in ancient Troy, the story is based on lliad (an epic Acient Greek poem.

Originally transmitted in four weekly parts during October 1965, this serial would see the departure of companion Vicki and the introduction of new companion Katrina.


The TARDIS materialises on the plains of Asia Minor, not far from the besieged city of Troy.

The Doctor finds himself hailed by Achilles as the mighty god ‘Zeus’ and taken to the Greek camp, where he meets Agamemnon and Odysseus.

Forced to admit that he is a mere mortal – albeit a traveller in space and time – he is given just two days to devise a scheme to capture Troy.





No episodes of this story are thought to still exist.  However a ful audio recording and clips are known to still exist.
