Halloween Special

As we approach Halloween, we thought we’d feature a couple of classic comedy episodes with a spooky connection.  Hope you enjoy.

Steptoe And Son – Seance In A Wet Rag And Bone Yard – 1974

Taken from the final series.  This episode sees Harold furious when he realises Albert has met some ‘Bird’ down the Derby and Joan Club.  To make matters worse Albert wants to marry her.  Mrs Duddy has a daughter who calls herself Madame Fontana and claims to be a Clairvoyant.

Albert tells Harold of his chats with Henry VIII and Ghandi and advises Harold that he has asked Madame Fontana to hold a seance in their home.  Here he intends to speak to Harold’s deceased Mother amongst others.

This was the last regular episode to be made of the popular comedy series, it would return for it’s final curtain call with the 1974 Christmas Special.

Only Fools And Horses – In Sickness And Wealth – 1989

Del is having stomach pains. It could be his new fast-paced Yuppy lifestyle, or it could the eviction notice demanding three months worth of unpaid rent up front.

TITCO hasn’t been successful and the pressure’s on to raise the cash.

The solution presents itself in the shape of Uncle Albert’s lady-friend Elsie Partridge, a medium.

Del’s not convinced about all this mumbo jumbo, but nethertheless sets up a séance in the Nags Head.  Albert uses his friendship with Elsie Partridge to ask her to say Del and Rodney’s  Mum has contacted her asking Del to go to the Doctor.
