Mr Bean – The Original Series, 1990

Mr Bean was the award winning television comedy that comprised 14 half-hour episodes broadcast over five years.

Rowan Atkinson developed the character whilst at University, the series followed the adventures of Mr Bean who Rowan Atkinson described as “a child in a grown man’s body”.  We watch as the hapless character goes about his everyday life trying to solve assorted problems that arise from everyday tasks, causing mayhem and disruption in the process.

The series was a regular ratings winner, the 1992 episode ‘The Trouble With Mr Bean’ attracting 18.74 million viewers.  Sadly in today’s world you probably wouldn’t be able to make comedy like this without an outcry.

Each half hour episode was split into two separate mini adventures with our hapless hero getting himself into all sorts of scrapes.  Always accompanied by his faithful teddy and driving his Mini car.
