BBC Name The Date For Hancock’s Return

BBC Radio 4 present, The Missing Hancocks

Earlier this year we and other media reported that the BBC were to re-record five episodes of Hancock’s Half Hour, the radio show to celebrate sixty years since it’s first broadcast.

Recorded in front of a live audience and writers Ray Galton and Alan Simpson themselves, at the BBC Radio theatre earlier this year.  Pirates of the Caribbean actor Kevin McNally takes the title role originally taken by the late Tony Hancock.  Also appearing in the series are: Simon Greenall, Kevin Eldon and Robin Sebastian.

There are five episodes in the series, each chosen by the writers themselves, the first one “The Matador” goes out at 11.30am on Friday
31st October, on BBC Radio 4.  Subsequent episodes will follow each week at the same time.  Expect a box set CD recording from BBC Worldwide later this year.

We’ll be following the shows as part of our Galton and Simpson 60th anniversary season.
