Inside No. 9

Inside No. 9, 2014

From the writers of The League Of Gentlemen and Psychoville comes this ‘black comedy’.

First airing in 2014, Inside No. 9 has so far ran for four series with series five due early this year.  A sixth series has been commissioned.

The writers took inspiration for Inside No. 9 from “David and Maureen”, episode 4 of their Psychoville series.  Inspired by Alfred Hitchcock’s film: Rope, the episode took place entirely in a single room, and was filmed in only two shots.  It was an idea that appealed, exploring the single episode or TV play format and Inside No. 9 allowed them to do exactly this.

The series has won a whole host of awards.  These include: Best TV Comedy Drama” at the Comedy.co.uk Awards in 2014, again in 2015, 2016 and 2017.  At the 35thBanff World Media Festival Rockie Awards in 2014 it won the the Sketch and Comedy prize.  In 2015 it was the TV Award at The Chortle Awards.Jump forward to 2016 it won the comedy Rose d’Or award.
