The Blackpool Show

The Blackpool Show, 1966

Think Tony Hancock and you’ll immediately think Hancock’s Half Hour.  Many people think that Tony did very little after his departure from the BBC there are a number less well remembered shows of which The Blackpool Show was one.

The Blackpool Show was Hancock’s penultimate series for ITV and offered him a complete departure from his sketch and sitcom shows that had made up his previous ITV work.  After an un-broadcast pilot in June 1966 an eight part series followed.

Not unlike his popular BBC Radio show Hancock was missing from two shows being replaced by Dave Allen and Bruce Forsyth respectively.

Summary

Broadcast from the ABC Theatre in Blackpool, Tony Hancock is your compere for a night of entertainment and variety.
