An Audience With Jasper Carrott – 1978
“An Audience With…” is now one of the most widely recognised formats on British TV, these days it’s singers and groups of the moment, but in the early days it was comedians.
Earlier still going back to the very first An Audience with it was Jasper Carrott in the hot seat, but not quite as we have come to expect from the format.
Summary
It was Michael Grade, then head on London Weekend Television who invited Carrott to record a show of anecdotal sketches and songs as a pilot for a series. Impressed by the result Grade commissioned a further five shows of the same, this now six part series became An Audience With Jasper Carrott.
