the famous trump ton fire brigade take their roll call

Here Is The Clock…..Telling The Time For…..

Trumpton, 1967

Trumpton was the second instalment of the Trumptonshire trilogy.  Created by Gordon Murray it used the same stop motion techniques as Camberwick Green and Chigley.

There was only ever one series of twelve episodes.

Trumpton will be perhaps best remembered for it’s Fire Brigade and the roll call; “Pugh, Pugh, Barney McGrew, Cuthbert, Dibble, Grubb.”  Because of the difficulties at the time in animating fire and water Trumpton’s Fire Brigade never actually got to put a fire out.

Summary

“Here is the clock, the Trumpton clock. Telling the time, steadily, sensibly; never too quickly, never too slowly. Telling the time for Trumpton”.  So began each episode.

Although most of the characters and settings are new, the style of the programme follows the pattern established by Camberwick Green (from which a few characters make an appearance in Trumpton also), in which domestic problems are cheerfully resolved by the end of the show, leaving the last minute or so for the fire brigade to become the town band and play the episode out.
