Bad Education, 2012
Something a little bit up to date. Bad Education has become one of the more successful sitcoms from BBC Three.
To date the show has ran for 3 series totalling 19 episodes. Premiering in 2012 the first episode broke BBC Three’s record for the highest viewing figure for a first episode of a comedy.
The last series was in 2014 and was followed by a film of the same name in 2015. In May 2022, it was announced that the show will return for a special episode on the newly relaunched BBC Three channel to celebrate the show’s tenth anniversary. In the announcement the BBC confirmed that the special is set to be followed by a new six-part series “written by a team of breakthrough writers” dates yet to be announced.
Summary
The series focuses on Alfred “Alfie” Wickers – a posh, newly graduated History teacher at the fictional Abbey Grove School.
Ever determined to impress his crush, Rosie Gulliver, Alfie makes a repeated effort to appear “cool”, performing activities including coaching the school football team, organising a weapons amnesty and fielding a candidate for school elections.
Usually, in these efforts, he turns to his class of misfits for help, despite them often being unsupportive.
