Dad’s Army, The Final Episode

Dad’s Army, Never Too Old, 1977

Still regularly repeated and enjoyed it’s hard to believe that this hugely successful sitcom ended 45 years ago this year.

Having begun in 1968 Dad’s Army became a regular fixture on our TV screens for 7 years notching up 8 series before taking a break except for the annual Christmas Special in 1975 and 1976.

It returned for a ninth series in 1977.  These 6 episodes would be the last as with Never Too Old, the final episode, we said goodbye one last time.  Little did anyone know that over 50 years since it first began it would be as popular as ever.

This final episode was screened on Remembrance Sunday 1977.
