Telly Addicts, 1985
Featuring the one and only Noel (tidy beard) Edmunds, who has quite a varied but successful TV career over the years. Here Noel Edmunds makes his first (we believe) appearance as a Game Show host.
Telly Addicts was must see BBC Monday night TV in the days before TV schedules were run around football and soap operas (oh how TV has changed!). It ran for 13 series plus a series of Champion of Champions, between 1985 and 1998, an impressive total of 204 episodes.
The format has been re-used in a number of similar shows such as Challenge TV’s Soap Addicts, Sport Addicts and (Groan!) Celebrity Addicts.
Summary
For 13 series the show had 2 teams sat opposite each other on sofas. The final series in 1998 had 3 teams of two players. Each team answered questions based on television programmes past and present. Generally teams would watch a short clip which was followed by a series of questions either specifically about the clip or more generally about the programme from which it had been taken.
