This Country, 2017
The hit sitcom of the moment as the BBC revealed this week that This Country has had a staggering 52 million requests on it’s iPlayer service. This makes it one of the most popular shows since the channel went online in 2016.
First screened in 2017, This Country became an instant success with over 4 million iPlayer requests. on the back of this a second series was given the go ahead. It began in 2018.
On 20 April 2018, the BBC renewed the programme for a 40-minute one-off special, as well as a third and final series.
The show has won three Royal Televsion Awards and three BAFTA’s in 2018. Going on to win another BAFTA in 2019.
Summary
The series explores the lives of young people in modern rural Britain, focusing on cousins Kerry and Kurtan and their lives in the Cotswolds.
