Ronnie Corbett Dies, Aged 85

This time it really is goodnight from him as the death of comic genius Ronnie Corbett has been announced.  He had been in ill health for some time and passed away this morning surrounded by his loving family.

Ronnie Corbett was one of Britain’s best loved entertainers and comedians and ranks alongside the greats: the likes of Ken Dodd, Bruce Forsyth, Tommy Cooper, Morecambe and Wise and of course his late comedy partner Ronnie Barker.  There are now very few of these comedy legends still with us, Comic legend and writer Barry Cryer said they all had the X factor.  From an era when comedy was just funny, perhaps it’s time for the best of what’s left of these legends to perform together for what could be the last time.

Whilst Ronnie Corbett may be best remembered for his partnership with Ronnie Barker in the long running Two Ronnies series he appeared in many different shows accross his career.

UKTV have re-arranged their TV schedules to show some classic Ronnie Corbett over this weekend on their GOLD channel.  We’ve had a sneak preview and there are some golden moments such as Sorry! Mastermind sketch and fork handles.  Check your on screen TV guides for full details.
