Arthur Askey TV Series Found
In 1960 Arthur Askey starred in an ITV sitcom: Arthur’s Treasured Volumes. A series of six one off plays. Until recently all but one of the shows were missing presumed wiped. That was until archive television organisation ‘Kaleidoscope’ researcher Tim Disney came across the missing five episodes within ITV’s own archives.
The original six part series starred Arthur Askey with regular support from the likes of noted bit-part player and character actor Sam Kydd, a pre-Steptoe and Son Wilfrid Brambell, Arthur Mullard, June Whitfield, Geoffrey Palmer and others.
It’s not clear what will happen with the episodes as nothing has been said, we would assume it will appear on DVD at some time.
