NTA Awards, 2016, News

The veteran comedian and actor Billy Connolly was handed a Special Recognition Award at the National Television Awards in London tonight.  The award, presented to him by his friend Dustin Hoffman was in recognition of his 50 year career.

Typical Billy Connolly stand up:

Peter Kay was back in there news as he also won an NTA for his “Peter Kay’s Car Share” which was voted 2016 winner of best Comedy Show.  the show beat off stiff competition from other nominees:  Benidorm, Birds of a Feather and Not Going Out.

Collecting his award Kay said: “Ey? Where’s Baptiste? Where’s that dog? We could’ve gone dogging. Bit of blue! Flipping heck, never even been nominated for one of these and now we’ve won.

“Thanks very much for this. I’d like to thank all the cast and crew who worked on Car Share and I’d like to thank everyone who voted. I’d like to dedicate this award to Billy Connolly, my comedy hero.”
