Harry Enfield and Chums Returns for 2011

Harry Enfield and Paul Whitehouse will return for a new series, but it wont be on BBC1 they’ve moved to BBC2 it was reported in The Sun’s TV Biz last week. ¬†Whichever channel they re -appear on it’s good to see reports that in an age where it’s all telephone voting they’re still producing new series of old favourites.

British comedy is in crisis. Once upon a time the BBC created such classics as Blackadder, Monty Python, Fawlty Towers, Not The 9 O’Clock News, Dinnerladies, The Office, One Foot In The Grave, Men Behaving Badly, The Day Today, I’m Alan Partridge, Harry and Paul, The Fast Show, The Young Ones, Mitchell and Webb, Goodness Gracious Me, The Catherine Tate Show…the list just goes on and on.

And now? In 2019? They show crap like ‘Mrs Brown’s Boys’ and ‘Hold The Sunset’. Wall to wall drama but no real comedy ever!
