Mike Yarwood’s BBC shows were part of the Saturday night legends genre (those Saturday night shows everyone remembers: Generation Game, Dads Army, The Two Ronnies, Doctor Who etc).

Look, Mike Yarwood was his original BBC TV series that ran for six series from 1971 until 1976, when later that year he returned with a new series Mike Yarwood In Persons.

At it’s height the show reguarly drew audiences of up to 18 million viewers.

Summary

Mike Yarwood performed sketches impersonating famous faces of the day.  Perhaps one of his most memorable was ex Labour Prime Minister Harold Wilson.  Others included: Eddie Waring, Ted Heath, Frankie Howerd, Harry Worth, Eric Morecambe to name but a few.
