Now considered Cult. The Lavender Hill Mob was a 1951 was comedy film, the British Film Institute ranked 17th out of the 100 best British films.  It is also notable for being Sid James first comedy film.

It is one of fifteen films listed in the category “Art” on the Vatican film list.

Summary

A meek bank clerk who oversees the shipment of bullion joins with an eccentric neighbor to steal gold bars and smuggle them out of the country as miniature Eiffel Towers.
