Morecambe And Wise Christmas Special 1969
It was their very first Christmas Special after two series with the BBC.
This edition is less frequently repeated than the later shows, a fact that has been put down to a lack of “big” guest stars. In reality all the guests were high profile at the time, but they have since become less prominent in the public eye.
The show is notable for the appearance of Frankie Vaughan who had initially been the butt of many jokes for the duo. It has been said Vaughan disliked being the butt of the duo’s jokes and the story goes that this is how the now famous Des O’Connor routines began.
