The final part of our look back through 70 years we arrive at the 21st century. For this post we are just going to cover some of the highlights of 2000 – 2020.
As we drifted into a new millennium taking a sigh of relief that we’d not been hit by the millennium bug, there was the return of Blackadder just before the turn of the year, if you had a ticket to the Millennium Dome as He went: Back and Forth, for those who didn’t tit was shown on was shown on sky TV in October 2000

Victoria Wood brought us a final helping of Dinnerladies
The show had begun back in 1998 but in 2000 it was final helpings as series 2 brought the show to an end.

Victor Meldrew had become a hit in way back in 1990, the series seemed to have come to an end when in 1995 after 5 series. It continued for 2 Christmas specials.
I don’t believe it! in 2000 Victor returned as he really did have One Foot In The Grave in this final series. The clip is just classic Victor
Often compared to 1970’s gem Butterflies My Family took up an 11 year run on the BBC

Gavin and Stacey became a huge hit in 2007, running for just 3 series there was a huge appetite for more as proved by the 2019 Christmas special
Only Fools and Horses spin off The Green Green Grass, saw Boycie move to the country

Of course we said goodbye to two of our best loved sitcoms, Only Fools and Horses consistently polls as our favourite sitcom. The series ended in 1991 but continued with Christmas specials until 1993. After a 3 year break the show returned for what we were told were the final episodes. However in 2001 the Trotters were back, two more followed and the third in 2003 brought the much loved show to an end.

In 2010 the world’s longest running sitcom Last Of The Summer Wine finally came to an end after 296 episodes and 31 series. As there ae no clips for the final series here’s a classic clip
