Boomers, 2014
Making it’s debut on the BBC in 2014, Boomers started life as a pilot (not broadcast) entitled ‘Grey Mates’ produced by Hat trick Productions in 2013.
Although the pilot was never broadcast a series was ordered by the BBC and under a new title ‘Boomers’ and began it’s first series in August 2014.
The cast includes some well known sitcom veterans including Paula Wilcox (Man About The House, The Smoking Room), June Whitfield (Terry and June, Carry On Films, Last Of The Summer Wine, Absolutely Fabulous).
The series was a hit with the viewers, returning in 2015 for a Christmas Special, before a new series debuted on Good Friday, 2016.
Despite it’s popularity with viewers there were only ever 13 episodes (including the Christmas Special over 2 series between 2014 and 2016.
Summary
Boomers follows the ups and downs of the lives of three late middle-aged recently retired (or due to retire) couples, living in Thurnemouth, ‘Norfolk’s only West-facing resort’.
