The last few months have proved very sad for the entertainment world, with the passing of Warren Mitchell, Nicholas Smith and Terry Wogan to name but a few.

Sadly today the death of Frank Kelly who played Father Jack Hackett in the cult Channel 4 sitcom has been announced.  He died aged 77.

A veteran of stage and screen, he had a career lasting 60 years.  Recently he has had roles in Emmerdale and Mrs Brown’s Boys D’Movie.

Kelly revealed last November that he had been diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease, although he said he would continue to work.

He had received the all-clear from bowel cancer in 2011. He was treated for skin cancer last year and also had heart problems.
