Hancock, Very Nearly An Armful

Hancock, Very Nearly An Armful, 2023

It’s now 50 years since Tony Hancock’s self titled ATV series (not to be confused with his final BBC show) and UKTV’s GOLD channel have commissioned a two hour look back at Hancock’s work.

In addition to the documentary two episodes from his BBC TV series (possibly two of the best) are to be screened in colour, these will air after the documentary.

Summary

Hancock fan and comedian Jack Dee presents Tony Hancock: Very Nearly An Armful. Taking its title from celebrated BBC TV Hancock series episode The Blood Donor, this two-hour retrospective features previously unseen scripts, scrapbooks and production files belonging to the lad himself, as well as personal items such as photos and letters.

Very Nearly An Armful also features clips from the Hancock ATV series, made after he split with writers Galton and Simpson, colourised and shown on television for the first time since their broadcast in 1963.
