Jimmy Perry Dies, Aged 93

Another legendary comedy scriptwriter, Jimmy Perry has died, he was 93.  It was with David Croft, he co-wrote one of TV’s most popular comedy series: Dad’s Army.

The two went on to collaborate on shows including It Ain’t Half Hot Mum, which began in 1974 and was based around their wartime experiences in the Far East, and Hi-de-Hi, about a 1950s holiday camp. based on Perry’s work as A blue coat at Pontins Holiday Camp.

Much of his work was based around his own life experiences.  His final sitcom was You Rang, M’Lord? in 1990, again co-written with long time friend and writing partner David Croft.
