No Honestly – 1974

Commissioned by Michael Grade in his early days as a Controller at London Weekend Television, this 1970’s sitcom is another that sits gathering dust without a repeat outing.  It starred real life husband and wife team of John Alderton and Pauline Collins.

The series was based on the novels Coronet Among the Weeds and Coronet Among the Grass written by Charlotte Bingham, who was co-creator of the TV series with her husband Terence Brady.  It ran for one series of totaling 13 episodes.

Lynsey De Paul had a huge hit with the theme tune, reaching number seven in the charts.

Each episode began with, the couple appear in front of an audience telling stories about their first meeting, courtship and life as newlyweds. The entire program, therefore, was presented as a series with flashbacks of the couple recounting the earlier days of their romance.

Episodes featured comic situations ranging from problems with mistaken identity to decorating and makeover mishaps.
