Mixed Blessings, 1978

Mixed Blessings was an ITV sitcom that ran for three series over twenty three episodes between 1978 and 1980.

Written by Sid Green of Hills and Green fame (Two Of A Kind, Citizen James) it was one of a number of sitcoms around the time that centred race (Love Thy Neighbour, Mind Your Language).

In common with much TV production around the time Mixed Blessings suffered at the hands of industrial action, after a strike in 1979 by ITV technicians delayed production.

Graduates Thomas Simpson and Susan Lambert are young lovers who are about to embark on married life.

However things are not as straight forward as they seem.  Christopher is a white out-of-work engineer and Susan, who is a social worker, is black.

Breaking the news of the marriage to their respective families it seems is only the beginning of their problems!
