The Best Bits Of Mr Bean

The Best Bits Of Mr Bean, 1995

All good things must come to an end, even Mr Bean.   The Best Bits Of Mr Bean was the show’s finale after 6 years.

The original version transmitted ran to 72 minutes, however subsequent repeats were cut to just 52 minutes and re-titled The Best Of Mr Bean.  As a result certain clips are missing, these include: Mr Bean helping a busker from The Return Of Mr Bean, Bean trying to stay awake in church and sitting in an exam from the pilot episode, as well as newly released footage of Bean accidentally pulling his television aerial cable and lifting the television up from the floor below (before letting go and smashing it).

The famous choral theme is used for the episode but how many people remember there were two versions used in the show.  For this episode both versions are used in the opening credits it’s the Choir of Southwark Cathedral’s version.  For the closing credits the version performed by the Choir of Christ Church Cathedral, Oxford is used.

Summary

It’s a miserable rainy day, Mr. Bean and Teddy venture into the attic looking for an umbrella so they can go to the park and feed the ducks. Whilst looking for one, Mr Bean uncovers various items from his past adventures, as he uncovers the items he recalls some of his adventures such as dressing himself on the way to the dentist, falling asleep in church, getting his head stuck inside a Christmas turkey and watching his beloved Mini being crushed by a tank.

When he finally finds an umbrella, he looks out the window to find that the rain has stopped. Realizing that he has wasted his day, Bean angrily leaves the attic as a boomerang he threw out the window earlier finally lands on the roof.
