The Peter Principal was a BBC sitcom first broadcast as a pilot episode in 1995 before returning in 1997 for a full series.
Two series were broadcast the first ran for 6 episodes in 1997 before returning in 2000 for a second and final series of another 6 episodes. The series was also shown in the USA where it was broadcast under the title “The Boss”
The programme takes its name from a concept in management theory known as “The Peter Principal” that states that workers are promoted to their level of incompetence.
Summary
The series is set in the Aldbridge branch of the fictional County & Provincial Bank.
The branch is run by inept bank manager Peter Duffey, whose incompetence causes major headaches for his staff.
