8 out of 10 cats

8 out of 10 cats, 2005 – Present

Eight out Of Ten Cats is the popular comedy panel game hosted by the master of the quick fire gag – Jimmy Carr.

To date (2019) the show has ran for over 200 episodes.  New and past episodes air across the Channel 4 network of channels, with past episodes also repeated on Dave and Comedy Central.

In it’s long history the show has undergone some subtle changes.  Originally, the show was recorded weekly and covered current affairs from the previous week.  Since the show moved from Channel 4 to More 4 and E4, multiple episodes are now recorded in the same day to reduce costs. Current affairs are no longer covered.

Summary

The show is based on statistics and opinion polls specifically commissioned for the show and hosted by comedian Jimmy Carr.  It features two teams, who in the past have been captained by comedians such as Sean Lock and Jason Manford.  Manford replaced Dave Spikey, who left after the fourth series to concentrate on other projects.

Every week, the captains are joined by two celebrities e.g. David Walliams and Alan Carr. Often, topical celebrities have appeared appear on the show.
