In the first episode, A Touch Of Class we witness Basil in super snob mode as he expresses his delight at a higher class guest in the form of Lord Melbury. His delight soon turns to despair as Melbury turns out to be a con artist.
His delight soon turns to dispair as Melbury turns out to be a con artist.
Fawlty Towers became a huge success with a further five episodes following. A second series of six episodes followed three years later in 1979.
The show became a national institution as we witnessed the goings on at Britain’s favourite hotel. It’s hard to believe there were only 12 episodes ever made.
fifty years on and we still can’t stop laughing as the best of Fawlty Towers makes it’s way to the stage with a brand new play featuring scripts adapted by John Cleese himself
There was even talk of a new series back in 2023, sadly two years on it seems that it won’t happen with some blaming a severe backlash at the idea and others saying it was a ploy to sell the play.
Whichever way you look at it fifty years on Fawlty Towers remains a classic that still brings laughter .
