National Service RAF Style…..

Get Some In ! 1975

It’s a shame that ITV seem to have sold most of the rights to their back catalogue because there are some classic sitcoms that don’t get the repeat outings they deserve especially now we no longer have Forces TV on freeview.

Get Some In was a classic.  Running for thirty four episodes over five series between 1975 and 1978.

It used a similar theme to The Army Game in that it followed the fortunes of a group of raw recruits doing their National Service, only this time it’s the RAF.

Tony Selby is brilliant as Corporal Marsh and the series was written by a hugely successful writing team of John Edmond and Bob Larbey.  Despite this it’s become another one of those television comedies that largely gets forgotten about due to never, as far as we can ascertain, being repeated on terrestrial television.  Although what was UK Gold did run a repeat series in their past schedules.

A stage version of Get Some In! was produced for a 1977 Summer season at the Princess Theatre, Torquay.

Summary

The series revolves around the lives of four recruits and their exploits to get one over on the evil Corporal Marsh  as he attempts to make their lives a misery at all costs

Unfortunately this is sometimes hampered by Marsh’s wife Alice who likes the recruits and is more irritated by her husband’s lack of  advancement in the force.
