Looks Familiar, 1972
Dennis Norden was a brilliant script writer and best known on TV for his work on It’ll Be Alright On The Night.
However there are a couple of almost forgotten TV shows he hosted. Probably forgotten, certainly in this case, because they weren’t in the prime-time scheduling.
There is little comprehensive information on this show so we’ve done our best. Looks familiar was a panel game usually screened in just before kids TV slot on ITV. After a pilot in 1970, the show ran for 12 series on ITV. In 1984 Channel 4 picked up the show and it ran for a further 4 series until 1987, this time in a peak-time slot.
Each week Dennis Norden would invite a panel of three celebrities of the day to celebrate the stars of the past whilst sharing stories from their own theatrical careers. Norden would often contribute gems from his own vast knowledge of music hall, popular music, variety and cinema.
