Randall And Hopkirk (Deceased), 1969

This now cult TV show was produced by ITC who were the production company behind many cult TV shows around the time.

Surprisingly there were only twenty six episodes ever made between 1968 and 1969.  The series was then broadcast between 1969 and 1970 and has ben regularly reported ever since.

In 2000 comedians Vic Reeves and Bob Mortimer starred in a remake on BBC1.  In 2010 digital TV channel SyFy announced that it had secured the rights to Randall & Hopkirk (Deceased) and were looking to develop a pilot.  To date there have been no further developments.


Jeff Randall and Marty Hopkirk alongside Marty’s wife Jeannie run a private detective agency.

In episode one Marty is killed during an investigation.  He immediately returns as a ghost to help his partner bring his murderer to justice.  In doing so he remains out of his grave for to long and is cursed to walk the earth for 100 years.

Seeing the advantages of having a ghost at the detective agency, Marty stays as an invisible partner, playing the key role in helping Jeff solve crime thereafter, also meaning that he can see his widow, Jeannie, who works as a secretary at the agency every day.
