Les Dawson often referred to fellow comedian, Norman Evans, as the inspiration for his much loved Ada character.

Norman Evans, was a Northern comedian/actor/writer who was very big in films and variety during the 1940’s and 1950’s.

The Norman Evans Show was a six part series broadcast by the BBC in 1956.
