Tintin, The Cartoon Series

Hergé’s Adventures of Tintin, 1962

Well as it’s Easter school holidays let’s take a look at another one of those foreign shows that would be shown on morning TV during school holidays.

Today it’s the turn of Tintin 9the original TV series), a regular show during kids’ Easter holidays during the my childhood in the 1970’s (yes it was probably broadcast at other times as well) The show originally was broadcast in the UK in 1962.

Tintin was the creation of a Belgian cartoonist Georges Prosper Remi (better known as Hergé) and first appeared in a serialised cartoon strip “Tintin in the Land Of the soviets” in 1929.  English translations of Tintin began in kids’ comic ‘Eagle’ in 1951.

Tintin made his UK TV debut in 1962, there were 7 series were made totalling 103 episodes.  We are not able to ascertain exact dates, but like in the USA it was repeated regularly here.

Summary

Tintin and his dog, Snowy, embark on wild adventures with the help of Thompson and Thomson, Captain Haddock, Professor Calculus, and others.
