Mapp And Lucia

Mapp And Lucia, 1985

Mapp and Lucia was a comedy drama series based on three 1930’s novels by E.F. Benson.

The show ran for two series of five episodes each in 1985 and 1986.  It has since been released onto DVD by Network On Air and repeated a number of times on TV, most recently in 2015 on the digital channel ITV Encore.

On it’s 1985 transmission the series was nominated for a BAFTA award and is said by many critics to be a prime example of period comedy standing up against such heavy weights as Jeeves and Wooster and You Rang M’Lord.

However her world is turned upside down when social adversary Miss Elizabeth Mapp from the neighbouring village of Tilling shows up.
