Mr Digby Darling, 1969

Mr Digby Darling was a popular ITV sitcom that ran for 19 episodes over 3 series between 1969 and 1971.

Produced for ITV by Yorkshire Television it became a huge ratings hit, becoming the fourth most watched show on British TV by it’s second series.  Comedienne and impressionist Janet Brown featured in series 2 an 3.


The show centres around  the fictional pest control business ‘Rid-O-Rat’. Roland Digby is the assistant public relations officer who depends entirely on his secretary Thelma Teesdale to provide for his every need.

This includes mending his clothes, cooking his meals, and generally covering up for his many failings at every opportunity.
