Mr Majeika, 1988
Mr Majeika is the title of a series of children’s books, written by Humphrey Carpenter, published between 1984 and 2006.
In 1988 it was adapted into a children’s television series, starring Stanley Baxter, of the same name by TV franchise TVS and broadcast across the ITV network. As well as the books and TV series the stories have also been broadcast on radio.

Summary
Mr Majeika is a wizard, sent to “Britland” from the planet Walpurgis because he failed his O-level sorcery exam for the seventeenth time.
He drops into the sleepy village of Much Barty, finding a teaching post at St Barty’s School in sleepy U.K.
