The Fosters was a UK sitcom that became famous for being the first TV series to feature an entirely black cast.  It’s also famous for being the very first regular TV role for one Lenny Henry.

The series was created and developed by Jon Watkins who adapted the show from the American sitcom ‘Good Times’.

Running for 27 episodes across 2 series The Fosters was broadcast between 1976 and 1977.

Summary

The series follows the day-to-day trials of Samuel and his lively wife Pearl (both immigrants from Guyana) and their three children on a South London housing estate.
