Wild West, 2002
From the writer of the hit sitcom Men Behaving Badly came Wild West.
Filmed on location in Portloe, Cornwall Wild West ran for a series of six episodes in 2002 taking a break in 2003 before returning for a scend and finla six episodes in 2004.
Described as a dark comedy, the first series was shown on prime-time BBC1 where it’s eccentricities met with both a poor and popular critical response. Despite the mixed response Wild West was commissioned for a second series. Subsequently both series have received retrospective praise.
Set in the hamlet of St Gweep, Wild West observes the strange goings-on in this local Cornish community.
The main focus for the series are shop owners Mary Trewednack and her life-partner Angela Phillips.Howevr there are a number of other characters in the series.
Each episode centers around a new situation that has come into the lives of the characters and how they deal with it, generally the focus is on the different ways in which Mary and Angela meddle in everyone’s lives.
