Fawlty Towers Re-Opened, 2009

This classic sitcom is forty five years old this week.  Fawlty Towers Re-Opened was a two part documentary produced by GOLD in 2009 to mark thirty years since the show ended.

Summary

Fawlty Towers: Re-Opened gathered cast and crew together to discuss the history of the classic sitcom from a rarely seen insider point of view.

The one-off special left no English Riviera stone unturned in its search for trivia and nuggets of information from the Fawlty Towers guestbook, alongside in-depth interviews with stars John Cleese, Andrew Sachs and Prunella Scales.  There is also an interview with Connie Booth who shares her memories for the first time in thirty years.

For part two the attention turns to the legend that is Basil Fawlty.  In Basil’s Best Bits John Cleese discusses his experience of playing Basil Fawlty and picks out his favourite moments from the show.

For the show the cast and crew are joined by celebrity Fawlty fanatics and followers to discuss their memories, alongside contributions from journalist A.A. Gill, the then Mayor Of Torquay and the original owners of the Gleneagles Hotel (the inspiration behind the classic sitcom.
